In college, MSU was the place to be. Grand Valley (where I went to college) had ok parties but everyone knew Michigan State took the cake. The first time I met Beth was on one of my many trips to MSU. I don’t even think there was a formal introduction, she instantly just came up and started talking. If I was friends with her friends, then I was her friend. No questions asked. She immediately announced a road trip and burned me a CD for the occasion. She was warm, bubbly and always out to find the next big adventure. That was the beginning of many crazy times together.
Charlie lived down the hall, or his friends did, I can’t quite remember. Slightly more reserved he might have come up to me and said, “Oh Hey, I’m Chuck.” That might have been it. It didn’t matter, all the people I met at State were instant friends. I often wonder what would have happened if my high school friend, Carolyn didn’t go to MSU. I’d never know these two amazing people.
Last year, Beth called me and said, “So.. I’m getting hitched..”
I let out a girly sequel of excitement “OMG, Beth I am so going to rock your wedding!!”
Again, no questions asked. Beth knew I’d shoot her wedding, because she’s good people and no introductions are ever required.
The most amazing thing about Beth and Charlie’s families is how warm and welcoming they are. I was instantly a member of the family.
Beth’s colors were yellow and green. Like she read my mind!
They’ll never admit it, but but these two are adorable.
Sometimes crazy things happen, like dropping the ring. But you get right back up and dust yourself off, because that’s what Beth and Charlie do!
My assistant Chrissy, took this shot and I think it’s my favorite from the whole day.
Bloomingdale Golf Club was beautiful and we had great skies all day.
These two crazies were the reason I drove an hour to hang out at MSU.
They can’t be serious for too long.
I loved the brightness of the yellow and beautiful details.
Best cake topper ever. And a street sign from MSU. It’s fate!
Love this image. Charlie and Beth really do have the greatest parents on the planet.
Confession: I was extremely nervous to shoot Beth and Charlie’s wedding. Shooting for friends and family is harder for me than any one else. Because these people will always be in my life… well unless I mess up their wedding photos really bad. And that is my greatest fear. Disappointing the people that matter most to me. Despite this, I can’t thank Charlie, Beth and their families enough for letting me be a part of their wedding. It was beautiful, funny and from the heart; everything that Beth and Charlie stand for. All my love to them!
