They enrolled in a study abroad program through Michigan State to explore new cities and experience culture different than their own. Instead they found something unexpected.
Jen accidentally locked herself out of her room one night and Doug faithfully brought her keys to her. She would later call her friends and tell them about this boy she met. And Doug would do the same, not knowing what would come of the pretty blonde girl that he rescued that night.
Doug was always joking around. He was the kid at the tailgate party dancing on top of a car, but his friends all knew the when he met Jen. He stopped wearing his trademark tattered green jacket and they saw the change. He was a little more reserved, serious… in love. Jen brought out the best in him and together they are carefree and always laughing.
It’s always an incredible honor to when a friend asks me to photograph their wedding. I almost get more nervous because I want to live up to their expectations. I went to high school with Doug and I was thrilled when he emailed to tell me he was engaged! After meeting Jen, it was easy for me to see how well they fit together. I can’t thank Jen and Doug enough for trusting me to photograph their wedding.
Their wedding at Twin Lakes Golf Club was spectacular and I had great light to work with all day. Many thanks to my friend and right had woman, Jenna for all her help!
Jen is so beautiful I can’t even stand it!
Both Jen and Doug’s mothers passed away from breast cancer and I loved the way they set up a memory table during the reception to watch over them. Jen also tied in her “key” theme with the escort cards and menu door that her sisters helped create.
